Backpack smart and choose what your going to pack with you very strategically because you want to make the most of the room you have in your bag while having it be as light as possible when your travelling. The best way to go about packing for skincare products is having them to all be sample sized as well so you have no troubles going through customs and your carrying less. Here I put together a list of my top 5 skincare products that I would backpack with to give you some ideas on what to pack for your next trip!

1) Sunscreen… Zinc Oxide Formulated to be specific πŸ˜‰

Sunscreen is a universal skincare product you need for wherever your adventures take you. From tropical islands to snowy mountain tops, you will need sunscreen on your face no matter where ever you are. I would highly recommend going with a Zinc Oxide based sunscreen which is the safest sunscreen type on the market. Research has shown the bad affects Oxybenzone and Avobenzone has on our skin and to our environment.

Especially if you are going to a region with tropical weather and your planning on swimming in water with coral reefs, Zinc Oxide is the only ingredient in sunscreens that do not do any sort of harm to the reefs. Be aware of what sunscreen your using before diving into the waters because you may just be harming the home of the thousand of species out there.

I would recommend using CyberDERMs Every Morning Sun Whip SPF 25 or the Simply Zinc Sun Whip SPF 30 is your going to a more tropical/sunny location.

2) A Good SPF Lip Balm

Lip balms are small and take up little to no space in your bag. A good lip balm that you’ll use every day is definitely worth bringing on your trip. Choose one with SPF to protect your lips from the harmful UVA and UVA rays. I would go with a natural mineral based one such as Jane Iredale which they carry a variety of their Lip Drink SPF 15 Lip Balms (non-tinted and tinted) to choose from.

3) 2 in 1 Shampoo and Body and Face Bar Soap

The best way to save some space in your backpack is combining your shampoo with your soap! A two and one shampoo and bar soap is a convenient travel option. Bar soaps and shampoos are totally worry free because you won’t need to stress about spills from containers. Bar soaps take up little to no space and they shrink in size the more you use them, unlike shampoo or soap bottles that take up a fortune of your backpack and will stay the same size even if your down to the bottom.

A couple soaps and shampoo bars I’ve been loving are Caity’s Soaps which you can purchase in stores exclusively at CyberDERM or send them an email to have it shipped to you! My personal favourite is the Oatmeal Bar. Or try out Saaboon a Ottawa based natural soap company!

4) All Purpose Balm

If I could go back in time and tell myself to pack one thing, it would be the Egyptian Magic Cream. This multi purpose balm can be used for so many things for your skin – as a quick make up remover, bug bite soother, sunburn healer, fading hike scars, as a intensive healing moisturizer, hair conditioner, a facial cream, and the list goes on. I love this all natural cream that can be used for so many things all fit into a 118ml compact container AND incredibly lightweight which is perfect for backpackers.

5) Moisturizer

Branching off of the Egyptian Magic pick from #4, if you have more room in your bag then I would consider bringing a extra moisturizer. Your skin can be going through a tough time adjusting through all the climate changes, sea salt water, sweaty hikes, and more. A good PH balancing antioxiant moisturizer or serum can be great for soothing your skin after a long day full of adventures. A olive oil based moisturizer is also a great natural option as well. I would recommend using the H2O Moisturizer from CyberDERM with a olive oil base, the Antioxidant Serum from Blue Beautifly to combat radical damage, or the OSEA Vegan Atmosphere Protection Cream.
