Hi everyone!

Today is my birthday today. I’m 23 years old! AH SO scary haha, how time just flies by right?? To celebrate, I wanted to share this video I put together on my most recent trip to Europe. And of course, a lot of hair was pulled out into making this video but it’s worth every second spent on it. This trip meant a lot to me and so do all my other trips but I sort of felt like this one in particular helped me sweetly write the last chapter of my year being 22 years old. I have learnt SO much things through out all my trips within the year through solo travelling to 7 countries; Hawaii, Mexico, Mexico again, LA, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

After graduating University, it was a pretty dark time in my life in terms of figuring things out, finding my purpose, learning about who I am, finding my roots to happiness, becoming a better person, and all the overwhelming feelings that all of us are going through. I can’t even begin to start with how much I have grown as a person starting from that very moment I decided to step onto an airplane pretty much for the first time with only my backpack – to take my life in my own hands and do what I wanted to do with my life, and not for anyone else. Maybe for some, solo backpacking is a pretty common thing that you do on a regular perhaps but for me, coming from a asian family as you can probably guess the type of expectations I have + living in a small suburban town in a city where 90% of people grows up in and lives in for the rest of their lives, the stresses that comes with overcoming the fear of completely going against the “norms” is incredibly hard. Everyone one goes through their own battles, little or big, and this is mine. The year of 22, has been the happiest year of my life, and it was all 100% happiness from my own doing that I cherish a lot. Travel to me isn’t something like a vacation or a getaway, it is a big part of me. It’s not a trip I go on to merely escape “reality” only to return back to “reality” with people having a negative conduction to the term. Every trip I go on I think deeper and deeper into what my purpose is in my life and although I’m still on route to discovering it, I know I’ve taken a few steps forward in a lone road I’ve began with a sense of ease and acceptance.

Why I decided to put together this video is for myself to look back on my adventures through life but also to share a part of me online as well. Hope you have all been enjoying my life through Carrie Project and the content I’ve been producing! It means the world to me that I’m able to share my ideas and thoughts to the world.

With that being said, because this is my Birthday post, for the year of 23 I will officially be in Australia for the year to discover more of the world and a new part of my life. I can’t wait to share a new chapter on here with you. Sending nothing but love to you all xx
